modelagentx.com and the Agent X name: what changed
The program is now called Agent X and its server address moved to modelagentx.com. What this means for updates, licensing, the phone link and your data, and how the fallback to the old address works.

Two things changed with Agent X 0.1.34: the name of the program and the address of the server it talks to. This post explains both in plain language and answers the most common question up front: your data, sessions, install folder and shortcut stay exactly as they are; the new version updates over your existing installation.

The name: Agent X
The program now carries the name Agent X. The new name appears in these places: the window title, the welcome and settings texts, the update notice and the phone app. In version 0.1.35 the installer file name and the installer title changed as well; the file you download looks like Agent-X-Setup-.exe. In 0.1.36 the same name stayed in the installer.
Changing the name does not require a reinstall. If you were using an earlier version (0.1.x), the update arrives as usual and no extra step is needed. Your shortcut and install folder do not change either.
The address: modelagentx.com
The program's server address became modelagentx.com. These things go to this address first:
- version check and the update file,
- suggestions and bug reports (the Suggestion / Complaint button in the program),
- licence verification,
- the phone link.
This site, where you are reading this blog, is the same address. Plans, prices and your account live on the Plans and My account pages; for the plan details see Plans and licence.
Fallback to the old address
If the new address cannot be reached for some reason, the program switches to the old address (melowood.com) by itself and you see no error. The switch is silent: no warning appears on screen and you carry on working. Phones you paired earlier keep working too; you do not need to pair them again.
Update security did not change
When the address changes, the question comes up: "I am downloading the installer from somewhere else, is it safe?" The answer: the downloaded installer is verified with the same publisher signature and sha256 digest, whichever address it comes from. If the signature does not match, the installer is not run. This check is the same in 0.1.34 and in later versions, and it makes the update itself independent of the address.
Frequently asked
- What happens to my existing installation? The update goes over the old one. Your data, sessions and install folder stay as they are.
- Do I still see the old name? After the update, the window title, welcome and settings texts show Agent X.
- Do I need to reconnect my phone? No; phones you paired earlier keep working.
- My licence and plan? Unchanged. Licence verification now goes to modelagentx.com first; the offline period and the other rules are as in Plans and licence.
- Is this a new product? No. The same program, with a new name and a new address.
How to check the address
With address changes, the sturdiest habit is to look at how an address is spelled before you click anything. The official address of Agent X is modelagentx.com; the download, plan and account pages are at this address. The program checks for updates from inside itself, so you do not have to go to a search engine or a third-party download site to look for the installer. If you took an installer from somewhere else, the safest way is to update from inside the app and let the signature check run. If you see a suspicious message or link, type the address by hand, enter the site and continue from there.
A short timeline
- 0.1.34: the program became Agent X; the server address became modelagentx.com; an automatic fallback to the old address (melowood.com) was added. The same version also brought low memory mode for weaker cards.
- 0.1.35: the installer file name and the installer title became Agent X (
Agent-X-Setup-0.1.35.exe). The release notes also state that users of earlier 0.1.x versions need no extra step. - 0.1.36: the same name and address continued in the installer (
Agent-X-Setup-0.1.36.exe); this version also fixed the first installation on a clean Windows and removed models not suitable for commercial use from the default list.
In every version the update goes over your existing installation and does not touch your data.
What this change does not mean
- It does not mean plans, prices or limits changed; this post is only about the name and the address.
- It does not mean your data moved somewhere else. Your projects and agent conversations stay on your computer; only things like the licence, the version, suggestions and bug reports go to the server.
- It does not mean you need to open a new account. You continue with your existing account.
Next step
The update arrives in the app by itself; if you want to get it by hand, the current version is on the Download page. For what else changed in these versions, read the 0.1.34 to 0.1.42 summary. If you are installing from scratch, Setup and first sign-in shows the steps in order.
